2023 Delicious, Barbera, Lodi
Barbera arrived in California along with the early Italian immigrants. This makes sense since it is one of the most widely-planted grapes in their country. It is known for deep colors, low tannins, and high levels of acids, but it's the Delicious fruit that is the centerpiece of this wine.

Monterey International Wine Competition: A fine example of the variety, with the charm of its Italian counterparts on full display. Bright cherry fruit and fall spice ride a wave of acidity through a long finish that invites you back for more. There’s a little heat, but it doesn’t distract at all. A roast chicken would be fabulous with this as a foil.
