2023 Dubious, Petite Sirah, California
This deep-hued wine is a blend of two different appellations: Lodi and Amador County. Each appellation brings a unique characteristic to the wine. Lodi brings fruit-forward, rich, ripe berry flavors, whereas the Amador County appellation contributes more tannins with a hint of pepper. The two blend very well, making a smooth, rich Petite Sirah. Having the term "Petite" in its name is Dubious at best.

Monterey International Wine Competition: A long time winemaker friend likes to call Petite Sirah “blueberry diesel fuel” and it’s a description that has stuck with me over the years, and it often presents itself in the glass. This offering does just that and adds a pepper back note to the bold blueberry fruit. It’s tannic as expected, but it’s relatively approachable now. Nothing dubious about the quality here… Go for bold cheeses or a fatty prime rib slab as a pairing partner.
